This RoR pick was an impulse buy at Indigo just over a year ago. At the time my toddler was big into owls and loved making hooting sounds. I flipped through this book and knew he would enjoy it.
The Knight Owl by Christopher Denise
The Knight Owl is about a brave little owl living in medieval times tasked with keeping the castle safe, during the Knight Night Watch, from a very hungry dragon. One of the fun bits of this book is all the who and hoot sounds that you get to make. The height of the re-reading of this book was when my toddler was just turning two, but it still gets pulled off the shelf from time to time. Now he loves dragons (and so do I, Fourth Wing anyone?), so it’s still a hit for different reasons. I think the ripped page is a sign it’s been re-read more than a few times!
I would definitely recommend this one to owl lovers, dragon lovers, and wanna-be voice actors. Have you read this one? If so, let me know what you think in the comments below.
- Happy reading!
P.S. The Knight Owl was a hit right around the time we went to the Alberta Birds of Prey Nature Centre. So we got to see a bunch of “knight owls” in real life.
