Reading on Repeat with Kids: Here We Are by Oliver Jeffers
Because once is not enough.
In the spirit of back-to-school this reading on repeat pick is filled with lessons of environmental responsibility, life on planet earth, and kindness.
The author-illustrator Oliver Jeffers wrote this book for his first born son when everything in life started to look and feel differently as a new father. As he made sense of the world he wanted to share his insights about earth and how to live on it. Which is probably why we received this as a baby gift several times.
It’s an endearing read that engages me and my kids, with lots of little illustrations and text to keep us exploring the pages. This book introduced my son to the solar system, and taught him that planet earth is our home.
The book offers facts about the land, sea, sky, and the human body. And bits of advice on how to take care of our one, and only, body.
Also, in writing this review I learned that there is a Here We Are film on AppleTV with narration by Meryl Streep, and Chris O’Dowd. I’ll definitely need to check this out.
- Happy Reading
